Ministry of Infrastructure Development
Its mission is to facilitate provision of an economic, safe and reliable construction industry, transport and services, meteorology, electrical and mechanical services, government buildings and stores that meet the needs of the public through development and implementation of appropriate sector policies, strategies and standards.
News and HighlightsMinistry of Infrastructure Development restructured to improving productivity and efficiencyHis Excellence, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete recently endorsed a new structure for the Ministry of Infrastructure Development in a bid to improve productivity and efficiency.
In the new structure the Ministry will have four Core Divisions and eight Supportive Units as follows
• Transport Infrastructure Division • Transportation Services Division • Technical Services Division • Safety and Environment Division • Administration and Human Resources Management Division • Policy and Planning Division • Information, Education and Communication Unit • Procurement Management Unit • Finance and Accounts Unit • Internal Audit Unit • Management Information Systems Unit • Legal Services Unit Transport Infrastructure Division The Transport Infrastructure Division will comprise of four sections namely: Trunk Roads and Ports, Regional Roads, Railways, and Airport and Aerodromes. Technical Services Division Sections falling under the Technical Services Division are: the Electrical & Mechanical Section and the Public Buildings Sections. Transportation Services Division Transportation Services Division will comprise of four sections namely: Surface Transport Management Section, Maritime Transport Management Section, Air Transport Management and Meteorology Section. Safety and Environment Division The Safety and Environment Division will comprise of two sections which are: Infrastructure and Transport Safety Management, and Environment Management Sections. Meanwhile, the new Directors were appointed to fill the new structure as follows: Eng. Mussa Ibrahim Iyombe was appointed Director in the Department of Transport Infrastructure. He is assisted by Eng. Alois Mjimwa Matei (Trunk Roads and Ports), Eng. Fintan Kilowoko (Regional Roads), Eng. Hillary Ally for Railways and Eng. Edwino Mujwahuzi is responsible for Airports. Others are Dr William Nshama, Director for Transportation Services. He is assisted by Festo Mwanyika (Surface Transportation Services), Dr. Saad Fungafunga (Maritime Transportation Services) and Kirenga Ndemino (Aviation Services and Weather). Eng. John Ndunguru was appointed Director for technical services. He is assisted by Eng. Ngome Rajab Ngome (Electrial and Mechanical) and Eng, John Masaga Kasanda (Public Buildings) . Eng. Madeni Kipande was appointed Director for Infrastructure Safety and Environment. He is assisted by Deputy Directors, Eng. Samson Nkundineza (Management of Infrastructure Safety and Transport), and Eng. Melania Mary Sengeu (Environment Management). Mrs. Sihaba Nkinga is the new Director for Policy and Planning. Honourable Dr Shukuru Kawambwa (MP) remains the Minister for Infrastructure Development whereas Honourable Mr Ezekiah Chibulunje (MP) remains the Deputy Minister. Eng. Omar A. Chambo continues to remain the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. |
